Improvements to Make Girl Scout Volunteering Easier

The council has spent significant time planning the realignment of our staff resources to meet the needs of our volunteers and, ultimately, empower girls.  To that end we will be doing some things differently – but believe that you will be supported more than ever before.

Realizing that the important work our volunteers do requires more than a single council contact, we are going to provide you with a support team – who will engage based on the specific needs volunteers may have. This team will include:

• A group of Customer Service Specialists who can be reached from anywhere by a calling a single 800 number. They will be able to respond to most of the questions or resource needs volunteers have without transferring the volunteer or sending them to voicemail.
• Each geographic area will also be assigned a field-based Community Development Manager who will work on creating partnerships and generating resources.  This will include the recruitment of girls and adult volunteers.
• Also assigned geographically will be a Service Unit Coordinator, Troop Coordinator, and Site Based Coordinator. The Service Unit Coordinator will serve as a consultant for service units – helping them operate, collaborate, and plan programming. The Troop Coordinator will work to train volunteers facilitators who will provide new leader training and serve as an ongoing resource to troops. The Site Based Coordinator will work to make sure that girls in after school programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and other non-traditional sites have access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
