Summer resident camp at Camp Tanasi is over, but parents and guardians are still talking about what their girls learned. Here are some comments gathered by the council’s research and evaluation team:
- I felt she was safe. I am familiar with all the safety regulations that GSUSA has in place, and I knew they would be followed. I don’t know if I would have let her go away for six days in a tent with no communication home if she was camping somewhere else.
- I like her going to a girl scout camp because I like her being with other girls her age. I like knowing that she is getting the idea of being a girl scout (promise and law) reinforced while there. I know that Girl Scouts has high requirements for the camp workers, and I trust them with my daughter. The difference for me is that it is a Girl Scout camp. I feel that every safety precaution has been taken. I know that Girl Scout camp is working toward letting her see the leader within her.
