GSCSA 100th Anniversary Celebrations

Because Girl Scouts all over the world will be blowing out the birthday candles in a big way next year to celebrate “The Year of the Girl,” the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is working hard to make 2012 a jam-packed, fun-filled year.

We know that you are curious about how we will celebrate the 100th anniversary, so here are a few events that you will learn more about in the coming months:

Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians/Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge co-sponsored event on March 24, 2012. This event will feature a ribbon-cutting for the opening of the new 100th Anniversary Girl Scouts exhibit, a program celebrating Girl Scouts throughout history with appearances from local Girl Scout “celebrities,” lunch, and tons of fun activities for Girl Scouts to enjoy.

Knoxville Sing-Along on April 28, 2012. This event will feature a spectacular sing-along, games, inflatables, food, swaps, and tons of other fun activities in downtown Knoxville’s World’s Fair Park.

Chattanooga Bridgefest on June 2, 2012. Join thousands of other Girl Scouts as we symbolically walk across Chattanooga’s Walnut Street Bridge into the next century of Girl Scouting. Then, head to Coolidge Park for a Party in the Park! Opening Ceremonies will take place that morning in Bellsouth Park.

ROCK THE MALL in Washington, D.C., on  June 9 at the 100th Anniversary Sing-Along! The council has secured a trip for Southern Appalachian Girl Scouts for $419 per person for the trip.

Bristol Speedway Overnight set to take place September 15, 2012. This date is still pending. We will celebrate the 100th anniversary with singing, s’mores, food and tons of fun!
