The council’s Property Task Group is moving forward with the long-range property planning process to support the council’s strategic key priorities, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), and Girl Scout brand within the council’s ability to fund and maintain.
Highlights from the group’s October meeting are outlined below.
The Property Sub-group has completed assessments of all council properties and is calculating deferred maintenance costs and looking at historical operating costs. Its next steps are to research how well properties meet program needs to fulfill GSLE requirements, make recommendations for improvements, and estimate the cost of improvements and maintenance.
The Program Sub-group provided four-year basic usage tables for camp properties and plans to meet with the Property Sub-Group to discuss property assessments.
The Membership Market Sub-group is preparing to distribute property usage survey to the membership at random by the first of November. Survey questions are expected to be direct. For example: Have you been to camp (insert specific camp name)? If not, why (travel time, cost and quality of facility or program, or lack of knowledge of the property and/or program)? The sub-group plans to offer an incentive to increase survey participation.
