The symposium brings together STEM-related departments and centers from across the UT campus and area organizations to provide high school students with a learning experience that includes guidance in career exploration and planning from a UT Career Services counselor. The symposium will give students a taste of each of the disciplines so they will be better prepared to decide which area they would like to study.
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is excited to be able to offer Girl Scout badge and Journey workshops! Each 2-3 hour comprehensive workshop includes aquarium admission, a guided aquarium tour, hands-on activities, and a workbook and participation patch set. Workshops are offered Saturday mornings (9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.) from June through January upon availability. A minimum of 10 girls is required. Emory Valley Service Unit and SPECTRUM are holding a Science Lock In! Brownies will complete the Home Scientist Badge, and Juniors will complete the Get Movin! Journey. (Juniors must complete a home energy quiz and return it to the SPECTRUM exhibit at Knoxville Center Mall.)

Step back in time at the Rocky Mount Living History Museum’s Girl Scout Day. Enjoy a tour of the living history museum, traditional 1700’s crafts like candle dipping and soap making and period-specific games. This is for Girl Scouts of all ages. Come spend the day at the University of Tennessee with the Society of Women Engineers to learn about engineering first hand! This event is for middle school girls and a parent. Students will have hands-on experiments, while parents talk to college students and professional engineers.
March 12 commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the first troop in Savannah, Georgia. This year is our 102th birthday! We celebrate our birthday during Girl Scout Week, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on Saturday. Spend the afternoon at Camp Tanasi and see what kind of fun you can have! Try out archery (4th grade and up only), reach the top of the climbing wall (2nd grade and up only), make something special to take home, learn camp songs, tour the cabins and tent units, meet some of the summer camp staff and more.
Help us keep Camp Tanasi beautiful! A lunch will be provided and you will receive a Love Your Camp Day patch for attending. Help us clean cabins, paint, collect and chop firewood, maintain our hiking trail, garden and weed, and more. There is something to do for all age levels.
