Girls 6th grade and up and adult volunteers
What did you do today? Are you looking for a little adventure in your life? We will be hosting several adventure trips and we want you to help us decide what we will do. We can host an overnight adventure or just a day trip. Come on your own or with your troop!
Trips and Dates
We will be hosting trips the weekends of:
June & July 2011: Summer Camp Adventure Trips
July & August 2011: Hiwassee River Raft Race Workshops
Sept 10, 2011: Hiwassee River Raft Race
Hiwassee River Raft Race
Girl teams and adult teams are invited to build their own separate rafts and compete as they float and paddle down the Hiwassee River. The two-hour race ends with awards for the fastest raft, the best looking raft, the hard luck raft, and the best Girl Scout skills raft.
See a photo album of the 2010 River Raft Race.
Hiwassee River Raft Race Workshops
All new teams are required to attend one of the River Raft Race Workshops to learn how to build their raft, what materials they are allowed to use, and how to run the river. Returning teams are welcome to attend to refresh their skills in raft building. The workshops will be held in the council service centers. Click on the dates to register online. All sessions are from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Check out our photos albums on the Girl Scouts of the Southern Appalanchians’ facebook page! You don’t have to have a Facebook account to look at the photo albums. The albums are for everyone to enjoy.
So, do you want to go rock climbing, caving, backpacking or learn how to ski? Let us know!
If your troop is interested in organizing it’s own adventures, Becky can help you plan it! She can also offer guide service for day hiking, backpacking and canoeing and canoe camping on Norris Lake.
Please contact Becky Cavender at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
