Meet the Camp Director
Becky Cavender is Camp Tanasi’s Camp Director and is happy to be a part of the GCCSA team. She has a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, and a M.S. in Recreation and Leisure Studies Management from SUNY College at Brockport. Her first camping experience was as a Girl Scout when she lived in the inner city of Buffalo, NY, and her troop went to Camp Seven Hills.
After graduating, she was a field instructor for a wilderness therapy program and spent two years taking youth-at-risk backpacking and camping, teaching them life lessons and survival skills, and how to make a family out of strangers. Most recently, she worked at a small liberal arts college where she organized social, multicultural, health, awareness and leadership events.
Being in the outdoors is her passion, whether it’s on the trail or at a camp. It is her hope that all girls who attend Camp Tanasi have the opportunity to learn and grow while gaining self-confidence in a safe and fun environment. Every girl needs to find their passion!
You can contact Becky at rcavendaer@girlscoutcsa.org or 800-474-1912.
