As Girl Scouts we are known for being prepared and getting the job done well! The council wants to help equip our volunteers with the top resources available so all Girl Scouts can have the best year on record.

The 2018 Volunteer Conference will provide helpful breakout sessions to get informed and organized. Get the lowdown on recruitment, tradition, planning, programs, marketing, and more! Meet other volunteers and share ideas, plans, and tips!

Set your troop up for success. See you at the conference!

Breakout sessions:

Fall Product
New and returning volunteers alike will hear about what’s new and exciting for this year’s Fall Product Program! Learn about new bonuses, rewards, online forms, digital orders–and more! Walk away from this session prepared to facilitate the program for your service unit or troop. This is required for all Service Unit volunteers and optional for troops. This will count for Troop Fall Product training or troops can go to their service unit for training.

Activities and Outdoor
Get details about new and returning outdoor program opportunities, including brand new events for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors and new outdoor training for volunteers. We’ll show you how to reserve one of our camp properties to go camping and talk about program and partner events happening in your area!

High Award Road Map
Learn how to encourage and guide your girls along the path to one of Girl Scouts’ Highest Awards. There’s a different between Take Action projects and community service—learn what it is! Get a rundown of the awards, their requirements and progression—and see where you fit in the process!

Keeping the Peace
Everyone’s brain works a little bit differently, so be proactive: learn to community better! Equip yourself to interact with parents and volunteers in the best way possible. Learn to comfortably handle conflict and difficult situations when they arise.

Troop Banking
Your one-stop shop for troop funds and banking information! Get details on how to open an account and which banks are Girl Scout-friends. Learn ways to help girls fund their experience, and how to protect yourself as a volunteer when handling troop funds. Master the art of using the Volunteer Toolkit to streamline troop finances and required annual financial reports. You’ll discuss how to protect the girl’s proceeds when handling the upcoming Fall Product Program and talk about policies and ideas for additional money-earning activities.

Travel Progression
This session will discuss the GSUSA travel progression which helps you determine when your girls are ready to travel and how far your adventures will take you! We’ll talk about how to plan for and pay for your travel and all the steps to getting your girls on the road.

Volunteer Toolkit
Curious about the new Girl Scout badges and Journeys? Want to find ways to be more organized and efficient with your troop? Come learn all the features and tools the Volunteer Toolkit has to offer! From badges to budgets we will cover it all.

Songs and Ceremonies
Learn time-honored Girl Scout songs and ceremonies with volunteers from the Girl Scout museum at Daisy’s Place. You’ll get ideas of how to incorporate these meaningful and fun activities to your girls’ troop experience. Join with us in song (Grammy-winning ability not required) and take the fear out of trying these traditions!

Urban Legends of GSCSA
It’s not uncommon for urban legends to develop after an organization has been in existences for many years. However, despite how true the legend sounds, that’s just what it is: a legend. In this session we’ll bust some of the most common GSCSA urban legends and shed new light on the facts rather than the tall tales.

Girl Scout Media
With our increased marketplace competition, it’s more important than ever before that we own our presence in the world of media. In this session we’ll discuss social media tips and tricks, how to tactfully respond to questions about our increased marketplace competition, how to take and submit photos for GSCSA for publication on our social media pages, and much more!

Service Unit Manager Training
Whether you are brand new to your Service Unit team or been doing this for years, these two sessions will cover the ins and outs of a successful Service Unit team. Hear from other Service Unit volunteers about best practices and get answers to your questions from GSCSA staff.
