Dream Rocket Project

Troop Leader Letter

My name is Tracy Hall, and I am a co-leader of Troop 20628 in the Fountainhead Service Unit. I am pleased to share the pictures with you!

Our Girl Scouts participated in The Dream Rocket project which is focused on international collaboration through art. The project included decorating a 2′ x 2′ panel which will be displayed at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta in November and then ultimately used with panels from all over the world to cover the Saturn V moon rocket at the Johnson Space Center.

The girls also learned about astronauts who were Girl Scouts, including Tamara Jernigan, a lifetime member of Girl Scouts from Chattanooga.

Additionally, each girl was given cinnamon basil seeds that had flown on a space shuttle mission and cinnamon basil seeds that were earth bound. None of our space seeds grew very well, but I’ve attached a picture of the basil that grew from our earth bound seeds. The girls plan on using the basil on pizza!
