2015 Council Teen Trip to Europe
The Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is sponsoring a trip to Europe. We’ll visit England, France, and Switzerland with stops at two World Centers. The trip is June 17-27, 2015. This gives you time to save and raise money for this once in a lifetime adventure.
The itinerary begins with five days in London – exploring sights that include Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, London Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Windsor Castle, and a cruise on the Thames River. At Pax Lodge, we will learn more about international Girl Guiding and Scouting, receive a pin, and experience a traditional British cream tea.
The Eurostar, a high-speed train, will take us through the tunnel connecting Britain with continental Europe, and we will emerge in Paris. History will come alive as we discover the Arc de Triomphe and travel down the elegant Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde. We will see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and visit the world’s greatest art collection in the Louvre.
Day eight will find us taking in breathtaking views as we travel high into the Swiss Alps, where we will spend a day at Our Chalet, the oldest of WAGGGS’ World Centers. Following tradition, we will participate in a pinning ceremony before traveling on to Lucerne, Switzerland, for stunning views, Swiss folklore, and medieval traditions.
This is only an overview of the spectacular trip we are planning. The best part of all will be the camaraderie of our group and the lifelong friendships we will make. Girl Scouts, spread your wings and discover the treasures of the world!
