Recruiter

Would you enjoy talking about the fun and excitement of Girl Scouting to potential new girl members and adult volunteers? Are you interested in seasonal part-time work? If yes, the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians is looking for you.

We are seeking multiple recruiters in southwestern Virginia, eastern Tennessee, and northwestern Georgia who will share the benefits of Girl Scouting with girls and adults during school talks and parent nights this fall.


Multiple positions are available. Recruiters must be at least 18 years of age. Weekly schedules range from 12-20 hours from August through mid October and 4-12 hours from mid October through Thanksgiving and may include early mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings. Recruiters must have personal transportation to drive to assigned schools. Hourly Rate is $12.00.

Camp Adahi Program Assistant

Do you provide extraordinary customer service? Would you enjoy being part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to girls and young women? Do you love the outdoor experience? If yes, the Girl Scout Council of Southern Appalachians is looking for you. 

We are seeking a seasonal, weekend Program Assistant for Camp Adahi in Menlo, Georgia on top of Lookout Mountain.

Under direction of the Director of Programming, the Camp Adahi Program Assistant supports the council's outdoor program by helping to provide a safe and educational outdoor experience for girl and adult members who are weekend camping. This position will assist with camp programs as needed. Camp Adahi is located near Cloudland, GA. A private, rustic cabin with private bath, refrigerator, and microwave is provided for this position's use.

Seasonal openings for Camp Adahi and Camp Tanasi

Work some weekends in a beautiful outdoor setting. The following paid positions are available.

Seasonal openings at Camp Adahi:

Right Arrow

Horseback Instructor: Requires 2 years documented experience teaching horseback riding and/or Certified Horsemanship Association Certification.

Right Arrow

Canoe Instructor: Requires 2 years documented experience or American Red Cross Small Craft Safety and/or American Canoe Instructor Certification (flat water).

Right Arrow

Archery Instructor: Requires Level 1 Instructor or higher certification.

Right Arrow

Lifeguard: Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Right Arrow

Kitchen Assistants: Requires current Serve Safe Certification.

Seasonal openings at Camp Tanasi:

Climbing/Rappelling Tower Instructor: Requires training on our tower, which is provided annually.

Archery Instructor: Requires Level 1 Instructor or higher certification.

Lifeguard: Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.

Kitchen Assistants: Requires current Serve Safe Certification.

All positions except kitchen assistants require current basic first aid training or higher AND CPR. Minimum age 16 years old.

Paid positions offer opportunities for weekend work. Scheduling of hours is based on activity requests by Girl Scout troops.

Junior counselors are second in command when it comes to planning, teaching, coordinating, and caring for the campers. Working alongside the day counselors, you’ll get first-hand experience in what it means to be a leader encouraging those around you to become all they can be.

Resident Programs Manager
The Resident Programs Manager oversees program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate for rising 1st-12th graders. This position will deliver a safe and fun program to campers from 7 am to 7 pm including oversight of tower, archery, waterfront, and pool activities. The Resident Program Manager will ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs and assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
