Girl Scouts Create Recycled Bench for Animal Shelter

The Oak Ridge service unit (SU) collected over 1,000 pounds of plastic caps during the 2018 membership year. Once the caps were all collected, the SU members drove to Evansville, Indiana to have the caps melted down into benches.

The Girl Scouts within the unit decided that their benches could be best utilized at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter to allow potential owners to have the opportunity to sit and get to know the animal that they would be adopting.

After the flag was raised, all individuals present made a pledge to recycle and do their part to make the environment better!
