We'll see you soon! Meet our Camp DirectorsMarissa Nickels, Camp Sky-Wa-MoMy name is Marissa Nickels. My camp nickname is "Roo." I have been a camp director for the past three years and am very excited about the upcoming season. I started my Girl Scout experience at the Daisy Level and have been an avid camper at Sky-Wa-Mo since I was ten years old. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Milligan College. I love the outdoors, reading on rainy days, travel, and new adventures. I am ready to start my new adventure with you for the 2010 Camp Sky-Wa-Mo Season! Rebecca Cavender, Camp TanasiMy name is Becky Cavender. I have a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, and a M.S. in Recreation and Leisure Studies Management from SUNY College at Brockport. My first camping experience was with the Girl Scouts when I lived in the inner city of Buffalo, NY, and my troop went to Camp Seven Hills - and I had a fantastic time. After graduating, I was a field instructor for a wilderness therapy program located in northeastern Georgia. I spent two years taking youth-at-risk backpacking and camping, teaching them life lessons and survival skills, and how to make a family out of strangers. Most recently, I was the Coordinator of Student Activities at a small liberal arts college where I organized social, multicultural, health awareness and leadership events. Being in the outdoors is my passion, whether it’s on the trail or at a camp. I hope all girls who attend Camp Tanasi have the opportunity to learn and grow while gaining self-confidence in a safe and fun environment. Every girl needs to find her passion and follow her dreams! |
