Troop leaders and assistant leaders complete a Troop Leadership Certification in order to work with girls. Your certification will cover the history of Girl Scouting, basic safety requirements, how to lead a troop meeting, and how to use the national resources, The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting and Journeys. You may begin your online courses at any time.
Step 1. Complete BOTH the Volunteer Orientation and Leadership Essentials

Step 2. Attend an Intro to Leading course for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Troops (3 hours) OR Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Troops (2 hours)
New leaders may begin meeting with girls after Step 2 is completed
Step 3. Complete and return Volunteer Essentials Home-study within 30 days of Intro to Leading
This is Required for new leaders to continue working with girls.
Step 4. Once certified, volunteers moving from Junior to Cadette level must take the second “Intro to Leading” course to remain certified.
