Programs Manager - Chattanooga

Do you have a passion for nonprofits and for positively impacting the lives of girls? Are you successful at providing extraordinary customer service, developing and delivering great programs virtually and in-person, and advising girls as they earn the Gold Award, Girl Scouting’s highest award? If yes, then the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is seeking a Programs Manager like you based out of its Chattanooga location.

Under guidance of the Director of Program Strategy and Development, the Programs Manager is responsible for membership growth through quality program delivery, including prospective member engagement, existing member support, alternative program delivery, program partners, camp programs, and implementation of national programs. Plans, coordinates and/or delivers Girl Scout virtual and in-person programming from Council staff and program partners. May supervise part-time staff who deliver programming during the school day, in the evening, and on the weekends. Regularly serves as backup to these staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

SUGGESTED MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of related professional experience. (Significant professional experience in program design/delivery or volunteer management may substitute for degree.)
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
  • Experience with Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), and/or experience with volunteers preferred but not required at entry,
  • Maintenance of Girl Scout membership throughout employment. Adult Girl Scouts members are not required to be female.

Human Resource and Registration Coordinator

Do you have a passion for nonprofits and want to positively impact the lives of girls? Are you organized, proactive, and have strengths in customer service and handling details? If yes, then the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is seeking a candidate like you for its Human Resource and Registration Coordinator in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Under guidance of the Human Resource Manager, the Human Resource and Registration Coordinator is the first point of contract for camp reservations, troop camping inquiries, and safety activity approvals, and provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers. The Human Resource and Registration Coordinator may also be responsible for administrative tasks, processing troop insurance, payroll assistance, risk management, human resource tasks, and assisting Chief Administrative Officer and Human Resource Manager with various special projects.

Relationship Manager

Do you have a passion for recruiting adult and girl members and for supporting volunteers to positively impact the lives of girls? Are expanding opportunities for girl participation in a nationally known program and providing extraordinary customer service to volunteers, parents, and girls high priorities for you? If yes, then the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is seeking a candidate like you for its full-time Relationship Manager role based out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Potential territory includes areas in Knox County and surrounding counties.

Under guidance of the Regional Director, the Relationship Manager provides ongoing recruitment, training, and mentoring to volunteers and parents by supporting them in the delivery of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) programs in keeping with GSCSA’s mission, vision, culture, and strategy. Serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers within the assigned region(s). Collaborates with volunteers to develop and implement initiatives that increase girl participation, address girl needs within local communities, and target underserved populations as identified and prioritized within each community. Utilizes strong command of Girl Scout knowledge to build exceptional volunteer teams, establish an effective communication plan, and present and promote Council program offerings (including the fall and cookie product programs) as well as provide adult learning opportunities. Assists with measurable outcome evaluation of GSLE programs.

Relationship Specialist

Do you have a passion for recruiting adult and girl members to one of the most well-known organizations in the country? Do you have excellent phone skills? Are expanding opportunities for girl participation in a nationally known program and providing extraordinary customer service to volunteers, parents, and girls high priorities for you? If yes, then the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians is seeking a candidate like you for one of three full-time Relationship Specialist positions. These office-based positions are in Johnson City, Knoxville, and Chattanooga, TN (one opening in each location).

Under the guidance of the Regional Director, the non-exempt Relationship Specialist is responsible for developing and executing effective sales techniques to convert leads and prospects into girl and adult members in assigned geographic area. This includes recruiting girls to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, recruiting adult volunteers to deliver and support programming, and assisting other team members with recruitment and volunteer support. Most of this work will be conducted by phone or email.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent with 3 years of related experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Maintenance of Girl Scout membership throughout employment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant course of study preferred. 
  • Previous sales, customer service and/or fundraising experience a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.

Outdoor Program Facilitators

Would you enjoy delivering Girl Scout outdoor programs to girls? Are you interested in seasonal part-time work? If yes, then Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians is looking for you. We are seeking outdoor program facilitators at our camp locations in Johnson City and Andersonville, Tennessee, and on Lookout Mountain in Georgia. Hours are usually on Saturdays in the fall and spring. Responsibilities are dependent on activities available at each camp. Multiple positions are available. Paid training is usually provided. Annual background check required.
