Girl Scouts: What to Expect for Summer Plans


Summer is here! Time for warm, sunny weather, cool nights, vacations, and no school! With the new season’s excitements, you may find yourself feeling as if you have too much free time on your hands. Luckily, Girl Scouts has events planned to keep your mind and body active and happy! Here are some highlighted events and programs Girl Scouts is hosting to add some extra excitement to your summer.



Girl Scout Night at the Chattanooga Lookouts (July 27th)
Girls have the opportunity to watch the Chattanooga Lookouts play the Rocket City Trash Pandas through this special Girl Scout event. Girl Scouts and families can purchase general admission tickets for a discounted price. Two Girl Scouts will be featured during the game: one will throw the first pitch, and another will be the junior emcee. Members are encouraged to wear their uniform or a Girl Scouts t-shirt to the game!

Cadette Journey in a Day Workshop (July 28th)
This special workshop reserved specifically for Cadettes helps build life skills and teaches girls leadership skills in a unique way. Earn your MEdia Journey though learning what it means to have healthy media habits

Smokies Sleepover (July 29th)
Come to the Smokies Stadium for this special Girl Scout Event! Coordinators have a fun schedule planned out for girls to enjoy which includes a Girl Scout parade on the field, a first pitch thrown by a Girl Scout, a game between the Tennessee Smokies and Birmingham Barons, and a sleepover on the field afterwards! 



Night Hikes (August 5th)
Join GSCSA Staff and Ranger Stephanie at Seven Islands State Birding Park for a night hike (and earn a cool Night Hike patch)! Here, girls will get to discover a new world that comes alive at night by exploring what can be found in the dark. This event is for Brownies and Juniors. Pack your necessities and explore the wilderness in a new (lack of) light.

Back to Girl Scouts (August 6th)
Let's get back to Girl Scouts!  The new year is on its way, and that means a whole new year of opportunities is on its way with it. This event held for all levels will get girls back into the Girl Scout spirit and excited for the upcoming months. Enjoy outdoor activities such as archery and slingshots and connect with new and old friends! This event will take place in Johnson City on August 6th, and in Chattanooga on August 27th.

Raft Race Trainings
Girl Scouts is invited to participate in the 35th annual Hiwassee River Raft Race! In order to participate, you must be a Cadette level or older and you must attend a training session if you are a first-time participant. There will be a training session in Chattanooga on August 6th, another in Johnson City on August 8th, and another in Knoxville on August 13th. Learn to create your own raft, compete against other teams in a floating contest, and win one of four awards!

Book Lovers Day (August 9th)
Summer Stack Club is coming to an end, so come meet some Girl Scout Reading List authors and be the first to receive the Summer Stack Club 2022 patch! Local authors will read some of their works, and book lovers will have the chance to share their interest together!

Daisy Toy Business Designer (August 15th)
Join this workshop hosted by Linore Huss, a former Girl Scout and camp Tanasi Counselor who is now the Director at the Inventor Center. At this event, Daisies will have the opportunity to learn from Linore about entrepreneurship and complete all requirements for the Toy Business Designer badge! This event will take place in the Kingsport area.

Science of Happiness Badge (August 25th)
Earn your Science of Happiness Badge this summer in Johnson City. In this workshop, Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and Volunteers can learn what it means to be happy through a scientific lens and how to apply that science into daily life! Learn how to make your world the happiest place it can be this summer.

Brownie Budding Entrepreneur (August 29th)
“Become an entrepreneur by making something, testing it out, and improving your idea to make it the best it can be!” This event intended especially for Brownies gives girls the opportunity to complete all requirements for the Budding Entrepreneur badge. The workshop is held in Kingsport, TN, at the Inventor Center and hosted by Linore Huss.
