Join GSCSA’s Media Girls team!

Media Girls is a program where Girl Scouts can participate in social media, news, radio, and promotional opportunities, developing lifelong skills like public speaking, writing, presenting, and editing skills.

Media Girls will have the opportunity to promote new and exciting things that may be featured on our social media platforms or website through video and photo. Such content can include troop meeting activities, cookie and fall product seasons, patch programs, recruitment efforts, and so much more! Some girls may also get to appear on local news stations or discuss the organization on local radio stations.

The team will work collaboratively with individual interests and strengths, to generate organic content that represents our communities and the girls within them. These meetings will mostly take place over Zoom, as to incorporate Girl Scouts across our council footprint! Local workshops and meetings may take place at Leadership Centers as well. Future endeavors may include events that feature guest speakers, educational workshops or tours of local media organizations.

Girl Scouts can also work independently and come up with their own content to be shown on social channels—i.e., setting up cookie booths, how to wear uniforms, etc.

This Media Girls team is an ongoing program and can accept new members and release members at any point. To remain a part of the team, Girl Scouts must attend meetings as much as possible and provide advance notice of absence. This way, girls aren’t left out of projects, and it can be as inclusive and collaborative as possible. We may also send out a request for content and we ask that you respond and let us know if you are able to participate.

Team collaboration is very important for this team, and this includes meeting agreed upon deadlines for group or individual content.

The purpose of the Media Girls team is to promote the mission of the Girl Scout movement and the experiences of this organization. Friendship, skills, adventure, growth, and fun are the tones of our channels. The team will be a kind and inclusive group and conduct themselves in a respective way. We encourage civic engagement but don’t take political stances on social issues in the content you create. We are here to encourage and build girls of courage, confidence, and character. We follow GSUSA’s guidelines on communication of social and political topics.
